A coaching model may be helpful for students who may be reluctant to engage in the assessment process. Taking something familiar (i.e. being coached) and applying that approach to something less familiar (psychoeducational assessment) can go a long way to reducing anxiety. Also, feel free to show your child our website and “virtually” introduce them to Dr. Macdonald and his clinicians to help them see that we truly are here to help (and we are a pretty friendly and approachable group!)

I want to pursue an assessment for my child, but they are anxious/ fearful/ hesitant/ upset about doing an assessment...what can we do to help them see the assessment as a positive experience?
